In a recently published article entitled “The Diversity of Solidarity Economies: A View from Danish Minority Gangs”, CGC-researcher, Christina Jerne, explores solidarity economies beyond their traditional third-sector understanding. Based on a multisited ethnographic fieldwork from 2018 to 2020, Jerne examines how solidarity economies are practiced within Danish minority gangs. Through the analytical lenses of “reciprocity” and “pooling,” the CGC-researcher emphasizes how solidarity mechanisms can be sites of struggle, also against other cultures of solidarity, such as certain assimilatory aspects of the Danish welfare model.
