“Ticket touting”, the practice of illegally buying and reselling tickets to popular sporting and cultural events for profit, exploits artists, athletes, and consumers, and raises serious concerns relating to fraud and corruption within the wider context of organised criminal groups.

Moretti’s research offers crucial insights into the true extent of the methods adopted by touts in the UK to acquire and resell tickets, questioning the effectiveness of recent legislation and challenging the narratives presented in public discourse and in the media about touting.

His analysis locates such sellers within the criminological literature on deviant entrepreneurship, as his in-depth participatory methods expose the widespread corruption that takes place within both the primary (official) and secondary (unauthorised) ticket markets.
